Legal expense management news for July 26, 2013

After being away at the end of last week for part 2 of my summer vacation, let’s take a look at the latest news:

The New Republic‘s “Last Days of Big Law” article has garnered lots of commentary in the legal trade press and beyond.

New report compares billing rates by city, firm size and practice area.

A “third way” for big-ticket litigation staffing – reducing cost without adding risk.

A thoughtful analysis of the relationship between – and possible convergence of – M&A deal fees for bankers and lawyers.

BigLaw’s D.C. lobbying practice goes “all-in” on fixed fees.

Is job-sharing a tool for right-tasking your law department?

A golf buddy, chemo and a legal fee that was double the original estimate lead to a messy disciplinary action.

And finally….one of my favorite “reality TV” shows intersects with our blog topic with a $122,692 award for legal fees.
